Shaken By Neha Hiremath's Murder, Hindu Girl Tries To Break Ties With Muslim Friend, Then This Happened

A Muslim man named Aftab was arrested in Karnataka's Hubballi for allegedly assaulting a Hindu girl who wished to end their friendship after the murder of Neha Hiremath.

The police identified the arrested individual as Aftab, a fruit vendor. The victim told the police that she was introduced to him by another Muslim girl who was her classmate.

"Aftab had been following me for two years. He gave me gifts in bags and other items. I tried to be friends with him, but after the Neha murder incident, I became suspicious of Aftab's intentions and asked him to end our relationship," the girl informed the police.

She added, "Aftab asked me to return all the gifts he had given me. When I went to return the gifts and asked him to end our friendship, he assaulted me. He hit me with a heavy object on my head in broad daylight on the street."

She recounted that Aftab proceeded to set fire to the gifts she had returned on the roadside. "When bystanders witnessed the attack, they came to my rescue and pulled Aftab away," she recounted.

One of the passersby who intervened to rescue the girl from the alleged assault described how he suddenly saw a boy attacking a girl in broad daylight at a public place. "I ran to help her and pushed him away," he said. He added that the assailant, Aftab, was also carrying a knife.

The victim also informed the police that Aftab had forcefully given her bags and other items as gifts. She claimed that he also pressured her to continue the relationship.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar stated that the police have arrested the accused Aftab in connection with the case.

The brutal murder of Neha, the daughter of Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Niranjan Hiremath, has garnered widespread attention. CCTV footage shows Fayaz, the accused, stabbing Neha multiple times in her college campus before fleeing the scene. He was subsequently arrested.
