19-Year-Old Man Arrested For Raping, Killing Raichur Woman In Bengaluru

Bengaluru police arrested a 19-year-old man on Thursday for allegedly raping and murdering a woman from Raichur, who had been living in the city for the past year with her three children. The accused, Karan, hails from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the victim reportedly went to a liquor shop and her naked body was found at an under-construction building site near Coffee Board in Amrithalli on Wednesday.

Post-mortem results confirmed that she was raped before her murder.

CCTV footage helped police identify the accused, who had been following the woman from the same liquor shop. The suspect was arrested following a review of CCTV footage. The footage shows the suspect at the same liquor store the victim visited, as well as trailing her as she exited the shop.

Karan confessed to the crime during the investigation.

In a separate incident, Rajasthan, police booked a magistrate in Karauli district for allegedly asking a Dalit rape victim to strip to show her injuries.

The victim filed a complaint on March 30, stating that the magistrate made this demand during her court appearance. The case was registered under charges of outraging modesty, and the magistrate has been booked under section 345 of the IPC and the SC/ST Act. The woman was allegedly raped on March 19, and the FIR was registered on March 27 at Hindaun Sadar Police Station.
