SC Halts Karnataka Board Exam Results For Classes 5, 8, 9 & 11
The Supreme Court has intervened by staying the Karnataka High Court's decision to conduct board exams for students in classes 5, 8, 9, and 11 of schools affiliated with the State Board. The court has prohibited the communication of results to parents and directed that the results be put on hold, with no consideration for any purpose.
In a strong rebuke, the bench of Justices Bela Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal criticized the Karnataka government for causing "havoc" and significant distress to students, parents, and teachers. They accused the state of playing with the future of students and causing immense physical and mental hardship.

The Registered Unaided Private Schools Management Association Karnataka and others had challenged the Karnataka government's decision to conduct these exams, arguing that the government rushed into holding them. They also contended that the high court did not grant them sufficient time to appeal its decision in the Supreme Court.
Additionally, it was brought to the Supreme Court's attention that the Karnataka School Polity Accreditation Council had directed schools to publish the results before 9 am on Monday, April 8, to prevent them from seeking relief from the top court.
Despite these actions, the Supreme Court has maintained that even if results are declared, they should not be communicated to parents and must be kept on hold. The Karnataka High Court had earlier permitted the state to conduct exams for classes 5, 8, and 9, while class 11 exams had already been completed.
