Hyderabad School Faces Police Case After Class 2 Student Allegedly Asked to Recite Kalma

A private school in Hyderabad under the bus after parents of Class 2 student alleged that their child was asked to recite Kalma and Surah Al-Fatiha by teacher in the name of school assignment. The case took place in the Saidabad area Success School. After receiving the complaint from parents, police have taken a legal action and arrested the teacher. While school also suspended the teacher.

Parents Raise Objections Over Assignment

As per the parents statement, the child was given homework after returning to home that student was supposed to read and recite religious verses, and repeat them in class. The case made parents asked the school management and demand action against those who are involved.

According to the parents asking a Hindu child to memorise Kalma that too from another religion without asking the parents had hurt the religious sentiments. They also asked for a fair and transparent investigation in the matter.

Police Registering Case Against School

Saidabad Police have confirmed that they received a complaint about the incident. Officials have said that legal advise has been taken from Public Prosecutor and they have registered the case against the school management under the related sections.

Police have said that they are investigating the circumstances which led to give teacher to give this assignment to the student, and did he violated any law or rule for this.

Teacher Dismissed Following Controversy

As soon the controversy happened the Success School has terminated the teacher who is involved in this incident. However, the school still has not revealed any statement yet how the teacher gave this assignment to the student and became the part of class education.

Debate Over Religious Practices in Schools

This incident has become like a fire to local residents and parents who are targeting school how this kind of act is being taken in the school. Many parents are saying that school should respect every religion and should not ask students to recite religions verses or texts.
