Karnataka Weather Alert: Will Bengaluru See Rain Next Week? Check Weather Forecast

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has predicted isolated to scattered very light to moderate rains with thunder activity across Karnataka from the 12th to the 14th, and on the 17th and 18th of April 2024.

Bengaluru, facing an unusually hot summer, is expected to experience thundershowers on the 17th and 18th of April. While the rain may not be widespread or heavy, it's a welcome change from the recent hot weather. It's recommended to stay updated on the latest weather reports as conditions can change.

The unusual summer conditions in Bengaluru have been attributed to three main factors: El Niño, an anticyclone, and a ridgeline passing through 18 or 20 degrees latitude south. While some experts initially pointed to the urban heat-island effect as the cause of the hot weather in the city, A Prasad, a scientist from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), identified El Niño as the primary culprit. According to Prasad, Bengaluru has not received any rainfall since January, and there has been a lack of weather activity. This prolonged period of above-normal temperatures for many consecutive days is what makes the current weather patterns in the city unusual.

Also, weather department has predicted isolated very light to light rains with thunder activity are likely over parts of Coastal and Malnad districts on the 10th, 11th, 15th, and 16th of April 2024.

The KSNDMC advises residents and authorities to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during these periods of expected rainfall and thunder activity.

Meanwhile, Thunderstorms have intensified over the districts of Haveri and Belagavi.
