Magsaysay laureate Neelima Mishra fails to get US Visa
According to Secretary to the social activist, Mishra had recieved a letter of rejection of her visa when she went to the Consulate on Sept 30. The letter of rejection had cited the reasons on the grounds of her unsound "social and economic" status and the possibility of her continued stay in the US.
However, the Consulate telephoned her on Sept 30 evening, after realising their mistake and asked her to come back on Sept 3 with her letter of rejection.
Mishra, who is scheduled to leave for the US on Oct 12 to address the 9th International Conference Organised in Chicago by 'India Development Coalition of America', being held on Oct 15 and 16 in which she is expected to speak on her vision of a "model village."
