Gangster Sharad Mohol Shot Dead In Pune On His Wedding Anniversary

In a shocking turn of events, notorious gangster Sharad Mohol fell victim to a deadly attack orchestrated by members of his own gang in Pune on Friday. The incident occurred in the Sutardara locality of Kothrud around 1.30 pm, where three to four assailants mercilessly opened fire on Mohol from point-blank range.

Swift Apprehension of Suspects

Following the brazen act, the police swiftly apprehended eight suspects from a vehicle along the Pune-Satara road. A thorough search of the vehicle yielded the seizure of three pistols, three magazines, and five rounds of ammunition, providing crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The hail of bullets inflicted severe injuries upon Mohol, with one bullet piercing his chest and two others lodging in his right shoulder. Mohol was no stranger to the law, having accumulated a substantial criminal record that included charges of murder and dacoity. Notably, he was implicated in the high-profile case involving the murder of suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui within the Yerawada jail premises. However, Mohol was ultimately acquitted of the charges.

As the investigation unfolds, the police suspect that internal conflicts within Mohol's gang, particularly disputes over land and money, may have fueled the deadly plot that led to his demise.

Addressing the media, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, firmly asserted that the incident did not constitute a gang war. He emphasized that Mohol's demise was the result of betrayal by his own associates, highlighting the government's unwavering commitment to combating notorious criminal elements and deterring gang-related violence.
