Mumbai gangrape: 2 accused arrested, hunt on for 3 others
Mumbai, Aug 24: Two days after a 22-year-old photojournalist was gangraped in Mumbai, police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two accused, while the search for other three is on.
According
to
reports,
the
second
accused
identified
as
Vijay
Jadhav,
in
the
brutal
gangrape
was
arrested
from
his
south
Mumbai
residence
in
Madanpura
area
on
late
Friday
night.
He
was
reportedly
hiding
at
a
video
parlour.
The first accused was arrested yesterday morning.
Both the accused will be produced before a court today.
Meanwhile, doctors treating the gangrape victim, who underwent a surgery, have said that she is in a stable condition but still in shock.
The victim was reportedly out on an official assignment for an English magazine along with her male colleague at around 6.30pm. He was tied with a belt and battered before the accused committed the heinous crime at Shakti Mills Compound near the Mahalaxmi railway station.
Then, the victim and her friend somehow, managed to reach Jaslok hospital at Peddar road, where she is currently recuperating from internal and external injuries.
While taking a swift action in the serious case, Mumbai police released sketches of all five accused, based on victim's and her colleague's description, on Friday and formed 20 teams to nab the culprits, out of which two have been arrested.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has promised all help to the victim's family and to bear all the medical expenses.
