WATCH VIDEO: BYD’s Jumping Car And Xpeng’s Flying Vehicle Go Viral In India
At CES 2025, the automotive world was left buzzing with the unveiling of two jaw-dropping innovations: BYD's Yangwang U9 supercar, complete with a "jumping suspension" system, and Xpeng's flying car concept.
While these futuristic vehicles took center stage at the tech showcase, it was BYD's "jumping suspension" that particularly caught the eye of Indian social media users, who couldn't help but turn the high-tech leap into a viral comedy moment.

BYD's Supercar: The Jumping Lifesaver for Potholes?
The Yangwang U9, designed to leap over potholes and adjust its height for smooth rides, became an instant hit with Indian users. Known for its remarkable suspension system, the supercar was demonstrated jumping six meters to avoid a pothole. However, Indians on social media couldn't resist cracking jokes about the country's infamous road conditions.
One user humorously remarked, "Finally, a car built for Indian roads!" While another quipped, "India is not for beginners. When we have a full flying car, then we can sell it here."
With India's roads often plagued by deep potholes, many joked that the Yangwang U9 was designed with Indian infrastructure in mind. One even added, "What if there's another pothole where it lands?"
The feature, while showcasing advanced engineering, inadvertently resonated with a country where driving can sometimes feel like an obstacle course.
Xpeng's Flying Car: The Future of Transportation?
Meanwhile, Xpeng's flying car, a hybrid electric minivan with a folding eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft, is setting the stage for even more futuristic travel. Dubbed the "Land Aircraft Carrier," this vehicle can drive to a takeoff point and then take flight with a simple command. With a price tag of under $300,000, Xpeng has already received 3,000 pre-orders, targeting the Chinese market first for luxury adventures and emergency rescue missions.
Future Transportation Meets India's Road Realities
With BYD's suspension tech and Xpeng's flying car heating up the competition in futuristic transportation, both brands are pushing the boundaries of what's possible. For Indian social media users, these innovations were a reminder of just how much we need better infrastructure-but with a quirky spin. While the cars may not be landing in India just yet, the concept of bouncing over potholes or flying above traffic may soon be more than just a pipe dream.
As the automotive and aerospace industries continue to evolve, who knows? The future of travel might just look like something straight out of a sci-fi movie-complete with cars that fly, jump, and even bounce like rabbits!
