Delhi Gets Relief From Heat As Rain Disrupts Flights; 15 Diverted, IMD Forecasts More Showers

As the national capital is witnessing if early monsoon, with light rain this morning, it has brought immense relief from heatwave. The Sunday for the residents of Delhi NCR was relaxing with cool breeze and rain. But it definitely impacted flight operations as several flights were diverted due to poor visibility and strong winds.

The IMD however predicted that this kind of pleasant weather will continue over the next few days.

Rain Disrupts Flight Operations

The impulsive change in weather have disrupted the flight operation at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Believig the sources, about 15 flights were diverted due to heavy rain and gusty winds that dropped the visibility. Among the 15 flights - 10 domestic and 5 international services, which were redirected to Jaipur and Lucknow until weather conditions improved.
Airport authorities continued to monitor the situation as intermittent rain and thunderstorms affected normal flight operations.

Delhi Gets Relief From Heat

After months of intense heat and high temperature across the national capital rain dropped the temperature that remained around 28 degrees until 1 pm. During the last 24 hours, several parts of Delhi received light to moderate rainfall, while a few areas recorded moderate showers.

The minimum temperature ranged between 26°C and 29°C, while the maximum temperature stayed between 35°C and 36°C.

Apart from Delhi NCR several other northeast states - Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, are also expected to receive rainfall over the next three days. IMD has forecast light rain to moderate rain across regions including Shimla, Mandi and Sirmaur.
