Osama's death anniv:Blast rocks Kabul just after Obama visit

Kabul, May 2: Hours after US President Barack Obama's visit to the nation, the capital of Afghanistan - Kabul was rocked by multiple bomb-blasts on Wednesday, May 2 - the first death anniversary of Osama bin Laden.

A suicide car bomb attack followed by massive gunfire stranded Jalalabad road area. Target of the multiple explosions was Green Village complex, informed Kabul police chief. Several foreign military bases are set up in Green Village complex.

Meanwhile, during a telephonic conversation with Reuters, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the responsibility of the blasts. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

Officials informed that security has been beefed up at US embassy in the country and staffs have been asked to "take cover, move away from the windows".

The US President gave a surprise with his sudden visit to Afghanistan. It is believed that ahead of the crucial presidential poll in the US, Obama tried to show the Americans that the war is winding down. Obama also inked a strategic partnership agreement with his counterpart in Afghanistan - Hamid Karzai.
