Family Chased for 15 Km, Car Attacked With Iron Rods After Opposing Woman's Harassment in Nashik; 9 Arrested

A family who decided to enjoy some time relax at Nashik district of Maharashtra turned one of the biggest nightmare for their family. They were chased by around 15 KM after they stopped the group for molesting and sexually harassing one their family woman. The incident took plat near Bhavli Dam and Igatpuri waterfall dam on Sunday, now Police has arrested nine people while one person is missing.

Dispute Began After Woman Was Allegedly Harassed

The whole incident happened after the family members tried to stop the sexual harassment against one of the member of the family. According to the police, a group of men allegedly whistled and sexually harassed a woman from the family during their tourist spot. When some of her relatives tried to stop them, a verbal fight broke out between them which later turned into physical fight.

Nashik Superintendent of Poilce, DSS Swami said, "It started with a verbal altercation, which then escalated over the next 7-8 kilometres. The dispute began when a man whistled; although they initially left the spot, the confrontation escalated further. Security arrangements have been significantly stepped up, and precautions are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future."

Family's Car Allegedly Targeted During High-Speed Chase

The Police also said that attackers allegedly chased the family's car for almost 15 KM, and family tried to escape from them. During this all drama, the group of men reportedly hit the windows of the car with iron rods and damaged it. However, the family somehow managed to escape from them.

The victim Poonam Bhagwant narrated the whole incident and said, "The accused called in their other friends and assaulted and threatened her husband. The family then left in their car, but the accused followed them in a white Baleno car (MH 46 BE 3721) and a Hero motorcycle (MH 15 KA 4502)."

Nine Arrested, One Accused Still Absconding

The Police soon take the matter in control and arrested nine people in the matter, while one of the accused is missing. According to the police they have a doubt that the missing accused have gone to Palghar region. The Police have found two mail accused and others have been charged for accompanying to main accused.

SP DS Swami said, "The accused are from areas including Igatpuri, Nandgaon Sado, and Manik Khamb. Nine accused have been arrested so far. All the accused have been identified. The accused were apprehended through video evidence and technical analysis. One of the accused, named Bhoir, already has a murder case registered against him. Strict action has been taken-invoking serious legal sectionsmto ensure tourism remains unaffected."

CCTV Footage, Victim Videos Helped Police Trace Suspects

The Police said that they have identified the accussed through CCTV cameras and videos shared by the victim family. THese helped Police to find and arrest the accusssed. Officials said that the further investigation is going on in this case.
