Samsung Galaxy S II soon in India: Specs, Review & Price

Mumbai, Mar 20: The major brands in Indian handset market are shifting their focus from affordable and low cost mobiles to high-end smartphones. Being one of the largest mobile phone markets in the world, Indians will soon get most of the branded smartphones launched in international market.

Samsung Mobiles, the second leading brand in India, set to grab the maximum advantage of transition from affordable mobiles to smartphones. After the launch of its latest smartphones like Galaxy Ace, Galaxy S LCD I9003, Galaxy Fit S5670 and Samsung Pop, Samsung plans to launch its recently announced Galaxy S II in India.

Samsung Mobiles India confirmed the near launch of Galaxy S II in India through a social networking website. Samsung unveiled the 4G powered Galaxy S II smartphones during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Along with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy S II smartphone stole the MWC show with its advanced features. This new smartphone has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display to offer extra multimedia entertainment on both 3G and 4G networks.

Samsung Galaxy S II runs on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system powered with 1GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM. This smartphone will be available in two variant, 16 GB and 32 GB internal memory. It supports 32 GB micro SD memory expansion for storing endless videos and images.

Samsung's new smartphone has a rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. Other features on the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

The music player on this smartphone supports formats like MP3, OGG, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB AMR-WB, WMA, WAV, MID, AC3, IMY, FLAC and XMF. Video player can play formats including MPEG4, H.264, H.263, WMV, DivX, Xvid, VC-1.

Samsung has not yet officially announced the release date and price of Samsung Galaxy S II in India. Hopefully, we can expect this smartphone in Indian stores by Apr 2011 and the price will be above Rs 25,000. Surely, this highly featured smartphone will compete with recently launched Nokia E7 and Acer Liquid Metal. Stay tuned for hands-on review.
