New Delhi, Feb 26: It seems like the world's largest mobile phone maker, Nokia, has been loosing its ground in the Indian handset market. Being India's most trusted handset brand, Nokia is in defensive mode after the delay in bringing high-end smartphones to Indian stores. By the time, other major brands like Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson took advantage of Nokia's delay.

Various market research firms have predicted the boom of smartphones in India along with the increase in affordable segment. There is a huge increase in the sale of branded smartphones costing above Rs 15,000. Most of the Indians are happy to choose Android smartphones than any other operating system. Samsung, world's second largest handset maker, is planning to utilize the surging smartphone trend in India with its new affordable smartphones.

Even though Nokia dominates the Indian handset market, the Finnish maker lost it shares to other brands in recent periods. Nokia came back with a series of affordable mobiles like Nokia C3-01, Nokia X2-01 and Nokia X3-02, but lacks its presence in high-end section. The recently announced mobiles like Samsung Ace and Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 have given supremacy to the Seoul based mobile maker.

Samsung is set to launch another high-end smartphone called Samsung Galaxy S LCD I9003 in India. This attractive smartphone is available for pre-ordering at online retailer Flipkart with an offer price of Rs 19,499 only. The new Android based Samsung Galaxy SL has a 4.0-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen with a resolution 800 x 480 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy S LCD I9003 runs on Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and offers a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processor. This smartphone gives a five megapixel camera at the back with digital zoom, Panoramic shoot mode and Autofocus. Another VGA camera is present on front panel that could be used for video calling.

The connectivity features on the phone include 3G HSDPA Triband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB. Samsung's new smartphone also provides a four GB internal memory and supports up to 32 GB memory expansion.
