NATO reaches Pakistan to help flood victims

With relief materials, including power generators, water pumps and tents from Slovakia, the first NATO aircraft came to Pakistan on Sunday, Aug 22.
"We must keep it up. This is not just Pakistan's hour of need. Pakistan is facing weeks, months and years of need. Now is our chance to turn the tide towards hope and a better day for all of the people of Pakistan," said UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Till date, over $ 800 million had been either pledged or received for the flood affected in cash and kind.
UN had flagged the idea of revising the target as mid-Sep 2010, as the number of people requiring immediate assistance is mounting with the deluge continuing.
