Indo-Omani paintings exhibition opens
Dubai, Aug 17 (UNI) An exhibition titled 'Mixture', showcasing the art works of well-known Omani artists Abdullah Al Riyami and Saleem Sakhi, along with renowned Indian artist Neelam Dhar, opened at Omani Fine Arts Society as part of a series of events to commemorate India's 62nd Independence Day.
The exhibition, which opened on Friday, would run until August 21.
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), which is an autonomous body under the aegis of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, is the sponsor of the Indian artist.
The exhibition which was held in association with the Indian embassy, has received good reviews, according to the Times of Oman.
Ms Maryam Zedjali, manager, Omani Society of Fine Arts, said, ''It's really great that Indian and Omani artists have come together. It gives an opportunity for Omanis and Indians to admire each other's work. As an outcome of this exhibition, we have plans to take the work of Omani artists to India,'' she said.
Neelam Dhar, a figurative artist, who mostly paints full figures, has bought abstract paintings to Oman. In her technique, she uses the colour with right procedure so that her paintings are saved from cracking and remain intact for a long time.
