Indian college planning to open branch in Penang

George Town, June 20: Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy has said that an Indian International college may soon open its branch in Penang.

Speaking after a briefing on the inaugural Penang Education, Training and Career Expo 2008 in Komtar on Thursday, he said the college, which specialised in engineering courses had branches in nine countries.

The Expo will be held on December 20 and 21, The New Strait Times reported.

Ramasamy said an institute of higher learning in Netherlands, which specialises in food production training and institutions of South Korea also wanted to open branch campuses in Penang, which already had five international schools and a number of private colleges.

The state government would offer more incentives to promote foreign investments in the education sector, he added.
