Pakistan mourns Nirmala Deshpande

Islamabad, May 2 (UNI) Pakistan today expressed condolence over the demise of noted Gandhian and Rajya Sabha Member of Indian Parliament Nirmala Deshpande.

In a message Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, ''We are saddened at the passing of Deshpande, who was an eminent Indian politician.'' ''One of her passionate goals was to promote peace between Pakistan and India for which she worked tirelessly and selflessly.

In her death, the region has lost an ardent peace activist,'' the Foreign Minister told the Associated Press of Pakistan.
