17-year old engineering student nabbed for theft in Kerala
Kottayam, Aug 17: A 17- year engineering student was arrested for theft by the police here.
The youth was arrested for stealing mobile phones and recharge coupons by breaking into shops.
The police retrieved recharge coupons worth Rs 50,000, 15 mobile phones, 10 pen drives, 50 memory cards from the student.Toys worth Rs 50,000 were also recovered from the youth.
The police was doing a detailed investigation on the serial theft, the investigation team collected the serial numbers of the recharge coupon that was stolen.
The numbers were handed over to the mobile phone companies and was asked to pass any information they receive.
The BSNL authorities informed the probe team that one of the stolen recharge coupon was used by a resident of Aymanam.
The police got connected to the shop owner and they probe team got a lead from there.
The suspect was nabbed by Gandinagar sub inspector M.J. Arun, assistant sub inspector Ashraf, senior civil police officer P.V. Anil Kumar, shadow police unit officers D.C. Varghese and P.N. Manoj.
The nabbed youth told the police that he bought the cards for a cheaper price from Kozhichantha Road. Later the police confirmed that the information was wrong one.
The youth confessed about the theft later. He roams around the place midnight and break into shops by removing tiles and asbestos sheets on the roof. The teenager sells the phones in the city.
The phones were recovered by the police later on.
