KL Rahul Opens Up On 'KoffeeWithKaran' Controversy, Says It Left A Lifelong...
Indian cricketer KL Rahul, who recently made headlines for doing a charity auction along with his wife and actor Athiya Shetty, has now opened up about the controversy he faced after appearing on "Koffee With Karan" alongside Hard Pandya in 2019.
KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya's bold comments on the show led to widespread criticism, and they even had to face action by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At that time, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were in Australia for a series, but they had to return home midway.

Recently, on a podcast hosted by Nikhil Kamath, KL Rahul discussed the controversy's impact on his career. He was joined by actor Kriti Sanon, and singer and music composer Badshah during the show.
KL Rahul revealed that the Coffee With Karan controversy left a lifelong scar on his mental health and fundamentally changed him as a person. "I used to be good with trolling. I used to think I didn't care. I was much younger back then," he said.
Impact of the Controversy
"The interview was a different world. That changed me. Completely changed me," Rahul continued. He explained how the incident altered his personality and confidence levels. "I was a very soft-spoken person growing up. Then I played for India and became very confident," he added.
Rahul elaborated on how the suspension affected him deeply, stating, "Now I don't because that interview scarred me massively. Getting suspended from the team. I have never been suspended in school, punished in school." He shared that he had never faced such severe consequences before, even during his mischievous school days.
Future Prospects
Currently, KL Rahul is preparing for the Duldeep Trophy 2024 and aims to make a comeback to India's Test squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. There is also speculation about whether he will be retained by Lucknow Super Giants for the next IPL season, but no official confirmation has been made yet.
"People will know I have been in a room of 100 people," Rahul mentioned, reflecting on how his confidence has shifted since the incident. Despite his past resilience against trolling, this particular controversy had a profound impact on him.
The episode not only affected his professional life but also brought significant personal changes. The experience taught him to handle public scrutiny differently and reshaped his approach towards media interactions.
The cricketing community awaits KL Rahul's return to form and hopes he can overcome this challenging phase to contribute significantly to Indian cricket once again.
