Delhi Heatwave And Today's Temperature: IMD Issues Red Alert, Advises People To Stay Indoors Amid Scorching We
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert and has advised people of Delhi to stay indoors to protect themselves from heatwave, hot and humit weather. According to the IMD, Delhi's day temperatures is likely to soar between 43 to 45 degrees.
On Wednesday, residents of Delhi experienced temperatures close to 45.0 degrees.
Amidst this scorching weather, the IMD advises residents to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure. It's recommended to limit outdoor activities, especially during peak afternoon hours when the heat is most intense. The city has been experiencing temperatures slightly above normal levels, with the heat wave predicted to persist until June 12 evening.

Weather Changes Expected
Relief may be on the horizon as a western disturbance is anticipated to impact northwest India from June 13 night. This could bring light rain and thunderstorms to Delhi, potentially easing the severe heat conditions. "The severe heat is expected to persist till Thursday," said Dr Naresh Kumar, a senior IMD scientist, as quoted by news agency PTI.
On Thursday, residents might also face humid conditions due to higher humidity levels forecasted for the day. However, by evening, thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching up to 60 kmph are likely, offering some respite from the sweltering heat. This change in weather could result in very light to light rain across parts of Delhi.
Forecast for Upcoming Days
The intense heat wave might ease somewhat from June 13 onwards, potentially leading to an orange alert instead of a red one being issued. Between June 14 and 17, temperatures in Delhi could drop to between 37 and 42 degrees Celsius. This period may also see light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.
