Panama Papers: Serious tension looms over Nawaz govt, political storm may topple him

Islamabad, Apr 18: Post Panama leak political storm erupted in Pakistan may result into toppling of Nawaz Sharif led government in the country.

His sudden visit to London has backed the above mentioned situation in the country.

"Panama or Pajama documents, it is widely understood, are enough to unnerve the rulers, the proof of which is the sudden departure of the prime minister to London to defuse the situation. How that can be defused, however, is a million dollar question; given the worldwide uproar," said an editorial titled 'Whistle For Change' published in Thenews.com.pk.

PM Sharif was supposed to reach Turkey to attend the OIC summit on Wednesday. According to reports, he landed in London for medical check up.

Before his departure, a meeting headed by PM was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and Punjab Chief Minister and his brother Shahbaz Sharif and other senior leaders at airport in Lahore.

President Mamnoon Hussain is also not in Pakistan as he has gone to attend a conference of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.

A high-level committee has been constituted by PM to probe after three of his children were named in the 'Panama Papers' leak. Panama Papaers leak sent shock waves around the world.

"Prime Minister never thought to clear the air on the issue," said Imran Khan the Cricketer turned politician and rival of Nawaz Sahrif.

He also sought a fresh elections in Pakistan and probes by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Federal Board of Revenue, and the Election Commission of Pakistan.

All may result into toppling of his government.
