Win necessary to make Karnataka number 1 state in India: PM Modi in Bidar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a public meeting at Humnabad in Bidar District as he began his two-day visit to the poll-bound state. This is PM Modi's ninth visit to Karnataka this year since February.

Addressing a public rally, PM Modi said,''I received Bidar's blessing earlier also. This election is not just for winning, it is an election to make Karnataka the number 1 state in the country. The state can only develop when its all parts are developed. This election will decide the role of the state and to make it number 1, double engine govt is very important for the state.''

''Foreign investment has increased thrice in the state under the BJP regime compared to the Congress regime. There is double development with double speed in the state. Karnataka is ready for the BJP govt again. Congress had only made fake promises to the farmers and people of Karnataka. Farmers of the state have received no benefits under the Congress govt,'' he said.

Accusing the Congress of also abusing the dominant Lingayat community in poll-bound Karnataka, the Prime Minister further said the grand old party had even abused Babasaheb Ambedkar and were engaged in abusing Veer Savarkar.

Hitting out at the Congress, PM Modi said, people will respond to its abuses with votes, and as much mud they sling at BJP, the lotus will bloom.

"The Congress hates everyone who speaks about the common man, who brings out their corruption, who attacks their politics of selfishness. Congress's hate against such people will become permanent. In this election too, the Congress once again has started abusing me," PM Modi said.

The Karnataka assembly election for 224 seats will be held on May 10 and the counting of votes will be done on May 13.
