UP assembly polls: Around 57 % polling recorded in fifth phase
607 candidates including 40 women were in fray during the fifth phase of UP polls.
4.21 crore of cash and 2.20 lakh litres of liquor, along with massive amounts of drugs and jewellery, were seized during the fifth phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, which recorded 57.36 percent of voting on Monday.

Voting across 11 districts comprising of 52 assembly constituencies were scheduled to be held on Monday. But, 51 constituencies went to polls due to the demise of Samajwadi Party candidate from Alapur, Chandrashekar Kanauji. Poll in Alapur would now be held on March 9.

BSP contested in all the seats that went to elections on Monday, while the BJP left had left one seat for its ally Apna Dal.
