TMC MLA Humayun Kabir Challenges Suvendu Adhikari to Enter Murshidabad District Amid Tensions
Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir has challenged Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, to visit Murshidabad district on April 13. Kabir's challenge comes after he criticised Adhikari for his remarks about TMC's Muslim MLAs. Kabir warned that Adhikari would face significant opposition if he entered the district.

Kabir had previously criticised Adhikari on March 12 for suggesting that TMC's Muslim MLAs would be expelled from the assembly if the BJP gained power. Kabir warned of protests against Adhikari if he did not retract his statement. This led to Kabir receiving a caution from the TMC legislature party's disciplinary committee on March 18.
Protests and Political Tensions
During a rally in Baruipur on March 19, Adhikari and other BJP MLAs encountered protests from TMC supporters. They faced black flags and slogans accusing them of corruption. Kabir described this protest as just a "trailer" and warned of more significant demonstrations if Adhikari visits Murshidabad.
Kabir stated that Adhikari's attempt to intimidate people in Baruipur failed, as both locals and TMC workers resisted. He suggested that similar resistance would occur in Murshidabad if Adhikari tried to provoke the masses there. Kabir emphasised that people would not be swayed by Adhikari's tactics.
Adhikari's Rally Plans
Adhikari had announced plans for 20,000 rallies on Ram Navami day, April 6, claiming participation by one crore Hindus. Kabir dismissed these claims as unrealistic, questioning the feasibility of such large gatherings. He argued that each rally would need substantial space, making Adhikari's claims impractical.
Kabir also expressed concern over potential disturbances from such provocative statements. He assured that common people would not allow any unrest to occur due to these exaggerated claims. According to Kabir, individuals will celebrate their chosen festivities without being influenced by political agendas.
Kabir reiterated his stance during an interview with a Bengali news channel, stating, "If Suvendu Adhikari enters Murshidabad on April 13, he will see the real cinema." He referred to the earlier protest in Baruipur as merely a preview of what could happen in Murshidabad.
The ongoing tensions between TMC and BJP highlight the charged political atmosphere in West Bengal. As both parties prepare for upcoming events, leaders like Kabir and Adhikari continue to engage in verbal exchanges, reflecting deep-seated rivalries.
