Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Vows to Protect Constitution from BJP's Alleged Changes
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the BJP of attempting to alter the Constitution. He vowed to counter these efforts with equal determination. Reddy, a senior Congress leader, made these remarks in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, during the Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhaan rally. This location is significant as it is the birthplace of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution.

Reddy alleged that the BJP aims to secure 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to change the Constitution and eliminate reservations. However, he noted that voters only gave them 240 seats, preventing their hidden agenda. "Efforts are being made to change the Constitution. We will try to protect the Constitution with the same force which they BJP use in the attempt to change it," he stated.
Constitutional Changes and Reservations
Reddy criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly trying to amend the statute book and remove job reservations. He compared Modi's attempts to Mahmud Ghaznavi's repeated invasions of India. "This time Modi is doing it attempting to change the Constitution with a lot of force," Reddy claimed at the rally.
The BJP, including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, condemned Reddy's remarks. Scindia demanded an apology from Reddy for his "shameful and disgusting" comments. Sharing a video of Reddy's speech on X, Scindia said, "Highly condemnable! By comparing the most popular leader of not only India but the world, the respected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Ji, with a foreign robber and invader Mahmud Ghaznavi, Congress leader @revanth_anumula has shown his hateful mentality."
Reactions from BJP Leaders
Madhya Pradesh BJP president VD Sharma also demanded an apology from Reddy. Sharma accused Reddy of displaying a "hateful and poisonous mentality." In several posts on X, Sharma stated that comparing Modi with Mahmud Ghaznavi was an insult not only to Modi but also to millions of Indians.
Scindia further criticised Reddy's language against Modi as "extremely shameful." He said it insulted not just the Prime Minister but also poor and deprived communities for whom Modi works tirelessly. "I strongly condemn his statement," Scindia maintained.
In his speech, Reddy referred to BJP as the British Janata Party. He asserted that their efforts to change the Constitution would fail due to opposition from Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. The Congress party remains committed to safeguarding constitutional values against any such attempts.
