Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results (Updates): Jayalalithaa calls legislators' meeting on Friday

Chennai, May 19: A few minutes and the fate of Tamil Nadu would be sealed. Amid high security outside the counting booths, parties prayed for a magic that could take them for a winning spree. However, the fate was sealed and Amma was to win, despite criticism for her disproportionate assets involvement. Both the major parties AIADMK and DMK did their best to prove their loyalty (sic freebies), but the people of Tamil Nadu who would keep the promise.

The Amma brigade heads towards a resounding victory for its freebie promise of free laptops to students, mobile phones for ration-card holders, and the expansion of the noon-meal scheme to include breakfast. The Karunanidhi team too is not left behind, promising smartphones for poor families and tablets or laptops with internet connections for students. But the people took Amma under their wings and Karunanidhi is left to regret.

10.36 pm: K V Ramalingam (AIADMK) defeated Muthusamy S (DMK) by a K V Ramalingam (AIADMK) defeated Muthusamy S (DMK) by a margin of 4,906 votes in Erode (East). Maruthamuthu A (AIADMK) defeated Rekha Priyadharshini J (DMK) by a margin of 2,262 votes in Gangavalli.

9.34 pm: Jayalalithaa calls legislators' meeting on Friday.

8.40 pm: BJP 2nd in 4 seats & 3rd in 29 seats in Tamil Nadu.

8.06 pm: Reacting to DMK's allegations, Durai Pandian said: "If DMK was aware of the malpractices, it should have halted the process then and there."

7.52 pm: DMK may move court if EC doesn't act on their allegation against AIADMK (of using its influence to win elections): DMK's MK Stalin.

7:30 pm: Stalin said that counting in one of the constituencies- Tiruvanammali-where the DMK was winning by 39,000 votes, has been abruptly stopped. "I have met the chief Election Commissioner and complained to him that the polling officers, apparantly AIADMK staff, are now listening to their party leader. Thus, curbing DMK's chance of winning."
