AIIMS Rajkot convocation: President Murmu urges innovation while keeping compassion in medicine

President Droupadi Murmu spoke at the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS, Rajkot on Monday. The event marked the graduation of the institution’s first batch of medical students. Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel also attended. President Droupadi Murmu called it a proud moment for students and those who built the institute.

President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the graduates and stressed their role in the institute’s future image. "You are the first batch graduating from this institution. In that sense, you are the first brand ambassadors of AIIMS, Rajkot. Your work and conduct will shape the reputation of this institution, she said.\" President Droupadi Murmu added that the white coat stands for public trust.

President Droupadi Murmu said the medical field carries a duty beyond technical skill. \"Medicine is not just a profession, it is a commitment to the service of humanity. This profession requires not only scientific knowledge but also sensitivity, patience and humility.\" President Droupadi Murmu also said ethical values should guide medical decisions and conduct.

AIIMS Rajkot and technology in healthcare

President Droupadi Murmu noted fast changes in modern healthcare tools and systems. \"Artificial intelligence, robotics, precision medicine and digital health services are transforming the nature and possibilities of healthcare.\" President Droupadi Murmu asked graduates to embrace innovation. President Droupadi Murmu also said the human touch remains essential in treatment and care.

President Droupadi Murmu said AIIMS institutions support affordable, world-class tertiary healthcare in India. President Droupadi Murmu also said these institutes help medical education, research and public health. President Droupadi Murmu expressed satisfaction that AIIMS graduates contribute to healthcare leadership in India and abroad. President Droupadi Murmu linked this to strong institutional standards.

AIIMS Rajkot priorities, governance and regional health needs

President Droupadi Murmu described AIIMS, Rajkot as a young institute that is still developing. President Droupadi Murmu said long-term success needs clear vision and good governance. President Droupadi Murmu also highlighted transparency as important. President Droupadi Murmu urged focus on local health challenges, including maternal and child health.

President Droupadi Murmu also pointed to genetic disorders affecting the region, including sickle cell anaemia. President Droupadi Murmu called on all stakeholders of AIIMS, Rajkot to work for service and public welfare. President Droupadi Murmu said this work should follow ideals of duty and compassion. President Droupadi Murmu also referred to Saurashtra’s cultural and historical importance.

AIIMS Rajkot, service ideals and Viksit Bharat 2047

President Droupadi Murmu quoted Mahatma Gandhi while speaking about service and purpose. \"Now that you have the opportunity to render service, pour your soul into it and learn to enjoy it thoroughly.\" President Droupadi Murmu said India’s aim of becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047 needs strong healthcare. President Droupadi Murmu added that the government has taken steps and sought continued collaboration.

President Droupadi Murmu ended by asking graduates and institutions to keep public welfare at the centre. President Droupadi Murmu said accessible and quality healthcare remains a key national need. President Droupadi Murmu said premier institutions like AIIMS have an important role in that effort. President Droupadi Murmu repeated that compassion and integrity should guide medical work.
