'Extremely Saddened': PM Modi on Vietnam Boat Accident That Killed At Least 15 Indians

PM Narendra Modi has expressed his grief over the deaths of 15 Indian tourists died in boat accident in Vietnam. While offering his condolences, PM Modi said Indian diplomats in Vietnam are trying all their way possible to help and are in touch with local authorities. The rescue and relief efforts are being made in full swing.

While reacting to the incident, PM Modi shared a grief on social media X, sharing his sorrow over the deaths of tourists and wishes speedy recovery of the injureds.

PM Modi assured that Indian Embassy and diplomats are in contact with Vietnmese government and officials to make sure affected people get full assistance.

According to the authorities, the boat accident occured when 32 Indian tourists with four crew members took overturn near Hon May Rut Ngoai Island, which is close to Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island. Reportedly, Vessel capsied around 400 metres from the island.

The officials have confirmed at least 15 Indian tourists have died in the accident, while three tourists from Andhra Pradesh have sustained serious injuries and are admitted to the hospital.

Rescue Operation Faced Challenges

According to an eyewitness, the nearby boats tired to rush towards the incident place and started rescuing the poeple, soon they were joined by border guards, navy, and coast guards alongside emergency responders.

The rescue team faced several dificulties while saving the tourists as many were trapped inside the overturned vessel. The team has continued its search and rescue operation to ensure the exact number of survivors.

Strong Winds Suspected Behind Accident

According to Vietnam officials the exact reason behind accident is still unknown and they are still investigating it. However, the intial probe suggests that boat capsized after facing multiple strong wind and high waves.

The authorities are still confirming the numers of survivors and investigating the real reason behind the tragedy. While Indian officials are in contact with Vietnam officials to make sure the complete assistance to affected families.
