New Delhi, Aug 19: Suvra Mukherjee, wife of President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, has been cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi on Wednesday, Aug 19.

The President along with his children, Sharmistha, Abhijit and Indrajit were present when the First Lady of the country was cremated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were also present at the crematorium.

Other VVIPs, who attended the cremation ceremony, were -- former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Vice President of India Hamid Ansari and many others.

After a cardiac arrest, Mrs Mukherjee was admitted to the Army's Research and Referral Hospital in the national capital. She passed away at 10:51 am on Tuesday.

Hospital official was quoted as saying, "Suvra Mukherjee was suffering from a respiratory ailment and died after a cardiac arrest this morning. She was on ventilator till the time of her death."

Mrs Mukherjee's body on Tuesday was kept at the Rashtrapati Bhavan from 3 pm to 5 pm for the family and friends to pay their last respects.

Later her body was shifted to her son's residence on Talkatora Road in Delhi.
