Caught On Cam : Six Killed After Milk Van Plunges Into Gorge In Himachal Pradesh's Shimla

In a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district killed six people after a pickup vehicle carrying milk fell in a deep gorge near Urman in the Rampur subdivision.

The victims died on the spot when the vehicle lost control while travelling through the hilly route towards Taklech. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Accident Took Place Near Taklech

According to officials, the pickup vehicle, which was being used as a milk van, was travelling from Rampur to Taklech, a village located around 30 to 35 kilometres uphill.
The accident occurred at around 4:30 pm near Urman when the vehicle reportedly went off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.

Due to the steep terrain, rescue operations were challenging. Police, local administration officials and residents worked together to retrieve the bodies from the accident site.

Six People Lost Their Lives

All six people travelling in the vehicle died in the accident.
The deceased have been identified as:

• Abhishek Saini (23), Rampur
• Ashok Jain (32), Rampur
• Layak Ram (56), Rampur
• Nitin Jain (23), Rampur
• Asha Kumari (40), Kullu
• Ugal Azad (12), Kullu

The bodies have been shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Taklech, where post-mortem examinations are being conducted.

Rescue Teams Reached the Spot Immediately

Soon after receiving information about the accident, police personnel and officials from the local administration rushed to the scene.

With the help of local residents, rescue teams climbed down the gorge and recovered all six bodies. The difficult terrain made the rescue operation time-consuming, but officials were able to complete the recovery before nightfall.

Investigation Underway

Rampur Sub-Divisional Officer Harsh Amrender Singh confirmed that the milk pickup vehicle met with an accident near Taklech, resulting in the deaths of all six occupants.
He said the exact cause of the accident would be determined only after a detailed investigation.

Police officials said preliminary findings suggest that driver negligence may have played a role in the accident. A case is being registered under the relevant legal provisions, and investigators will examine all possible factors, including road conditions, the vehicle's mechanical condition and the circumstances leading to the crash.
