2,000 Calls, Café Meeting And A Cricket Friendship: Fresh Revelations In Ketan Agarwal Murder Case

The investigation into the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has revealed new details about how the two main accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly came to know each other.

According to Pune Rural Police, Chetan first entered the Goyal family's circle through Siya's brother, Sahil Goyal, after the two became friends while playing cricket.

Investigators believe this friendship eventually led to Siya and Chetan developing a close relationship, which later became a key part of the ongoing murder investigation.

Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling from Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra. While the incident was initially treated as an accident, police now suspect it was a planned murder. Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested, and the investigation is continuing.

A Friendship That Began on the Cricket Field

According to police sources, Sahil Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary became friends in 2024 because of their shared interest in cricket.

As their friendship grew, Chetan began visiting the Goyal family and eventually got to know Siya.

Investigators believe this connection gradually developed into a personal relationship between Siya and Chetan.
Police questioned Sahil for more than 10 hours on Friday to understand when he first became aware of their relationship and whether other members of the family knew about it.

Brother Says He Asked Siya to End the Relationship

During questioning, Sahil reportedly told investigators that he had known about Siya and Chetan's relationship for several months.
According to police sources, he advised his sister to end the relationship because she was already engaged to Ketan Agarwal.

Investigators are now examining whether the family noticed any warning signs before the alleged conspiracy was planned.

Relationship Allegedly Continued During Wedding Preparations

Police claim that Siya and Chetan remained in regular contact even as preparations for her wedding with Ketan continued.

According to investigators, Siya actively participated in wedding planning. She frequently visited Ketan's family, helped make arrangements and had even planned a pre-wedding photoshoot with him in Bali.

At the same time, police allege that Siya and Chetan remained in constant communication.

Investigators claim that between January and June, the two exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls and spent nearly 238 hours speaking to each other.

These call records are now being examined as part of the investigation.

Hair Patch Claim Also Under Investigation

Police sources said Siya reportedly told investigators that she was unhappy after learning Ketan wore a wig or hair patch because of hair loss.
However, Ketan's family has rejected this claim, saying they had informed the Goyal family well before the engagement that he used a small hair patch after undergoing hair treatment.

Investigators are examining all statements made during questioning as part of the probe.

Police Investigating Meeting Before Ketan's Death

One of the key pieces of evidence under investigation is a meeting between Siya and Chetan that allegedly took place a day before Ketan's death.
According to police, the two met at a café in Pune's Kondhwa area on June 17.
Investigators say the meeting lasted for more than 90 minutes and was captured on CCTV cameras.

Police are analysing the footage to determine whether the meeting was connected to the events that unfolded the following day.

Crime Scene Reconstruction Underway

The investigation has now entered the reconstruction stage.
Police have recorded statements from at least 10 people, including an employee working at Chetan Chaudhary's shop.

Investigators have also taken members of both families to Lohagad Fort to recreate the sequence of events and better understand what happened before Ketan's fall.
Officials hope this exercise will help verify witness statements and establish the movements of the accused before the incident.

Families Left Devastated

The case has deeply affected both families.
According to police sources, Siya's father has reportedly been admitted to hospital following her arrest.

Relatives said he had been actively involved in planning the couple's wedding, including travel arrangements for dozens of guests expected to attend celebrations in Ahmedabad and Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, Ketan's family continues to seek justice, maintaining that his death was not an accident but the result of a carefully planned conspiracy.

Police are continuing to examine mobile phone records, CCTV footage, digital evidence and witness statements to establish the sequence of events leading to Ketan Agarwal's death. As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to question additional witnesses and analyse forensic evidence before filing the final chargesheet. The allegations made by investigators are yet to be tested in court, and the accused will have the opportunity to present their defence during the trial.
