Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire for 6th Consecutive Day, Indian Army Strikes Back

The Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire agreement in Jammu and Kashmir for the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, drawing a prompt and proportionate response from the Indian Army.

According to an official statement, "During the night of April 29-30, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir."

Similar ceasefire violations were also reported in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts, and across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector.

The Indian Army confirmed that its troops responded "swiftly and proportionately" to the unprovoked firing.

This marks the sixth consecutive night of Pakistani ceasefire violations. Earlier incidents occurred during the nights of April 24-25, 25-26, 26-27, 27-28, and 28-29.

The escalating tensions follow a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians. It is considered the deadliest civilian attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

A relatively unknown militant outfit, The Resistance Front, reportedly claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack via a message on social media, as per news agency ANI.

In the aftermath, India implemented a series of punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari Check Post.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong warning to the perpetrators, stating, "India will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism."
