Odisha Train Accident: What We Know So Far
In a devastating incident that unfolded in Odisha's Balasore district, India, a series of train collisions resulted in one of the country's most severe railway disasters to date. According to officials, at least 261 people lost their lives, while more than 900 others sustained injuries.

Here is what we know so far about the Odisha Train Accident:
- Trains involved in the collision: Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train.
- The details of the two trains are 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and 12864 Yashwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the accident, and announced an additional compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of those dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the PM's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

- Chief minsiter Naveen Patnaik declared one-day of state mourning cancelling the state-day celebrations.
- West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee may visit Odisha on Saturday, BJP MP Dol Sen told to news agency ANI.
