India to buy 13 Lynx-U2 fire control systems for Navy
The government on Thursday inked a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore for the procurement of 13 Lynx-U2 Fire Control Systems for the Indian Navy at a total cost of over Rs 1,700 crore.
The Lynx-U2 System is a Naval Gun Fire Control System designed and developed indigenously. It is capable of accurately tracking and engaging targets amidst sea clutter as well as air/surface targets.

The fourth generation, completely indigenous systems, will be installed on New Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels to be built indigenously at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers and Goa Shipyard Limited.
"This move will generate an employment of two lakh man-days over a period of four years and encourage active participation of various Indian industries, including MSMEs, thus significantly contributing to the Government's efforts to achieve 'Aatmanirbharta' in defence," according to a defence ministry statement.
The Lynx-U2 System utilises advanced sensors, such as radar and electro-optical systems, to detect and track targets in real-time. It also includes advanced software algorithms and ballistic computation capabilities to calculate the precise firing solutions required to hit the target with high accuracy.
The system can be integrated into various types of naval platforms, such as frigates, corvettes, and patrol boats, and can control different types of naval guns, including 76mm, 57mm, and 35mm automatic guns.
It can also be connected to other ship systems, such as the combat management system, to provide a comprehensive situational awareness picture and enhance the ship's overall combat capabilities.
Overall, the Lynx-U2 System provides a reliable and effective naval gun fire control solution for modern naval operations.
