Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar Resigns, May Contest Lok Sabha Elections 2024
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday tendered his resignation after alliance partner Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) took back its support from state ruling BJP. Haryana has 90 assembly seats. In the last state elections, BJP emerged as the single largest party but fell short of the majority mark of 45.
BJP has 41 MLAs, while its former alliance partner JJP has 10 MLAs. 6 independent candidates also won the 2019 state elections. According to the reports, BJP state president Nayab Singh Saini may replace ML Khattar as the new Chief Minister.

The reports added that the former Chief Minister may contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Karna constituency. Experts have analysed the big change in Haryana as the Modi government's strategy to deal with anti-incumbency and to woo the jaat voters.
Notably, a day ago, Manohar Lal Khattar shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the Gurugram-Dwarka expressway's 19 km stretch, where PM lauded him.

However, a few reports have also suggested Sanjay Bhatia's name in the fray for CM's post.
A team of observers from Delhi has also been sent to Chandigarh to discuss the further road map and to deal with the current political turmoil.
On the other hand, JJP's Dushyant Chautala has also called a key meeting to keep his members intact. JJP decided to move out of the alliance with BJP after the saffron wing denied sharing seats and decided to solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
JJP was demanding Biwani and Hissar constituencies from its alliance partner.
The reports said JJP is now likely to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in the upcoming General Elections.
