Delhi University's National Conference Sheds Light on Ramcharitmanas' Modern-Day Relevance
The University of Delhi's Centre for Hindu Studies, in collaboration with Sanskriti Sangyan, hosted a one-day national conference on Ramcharitmanas for Humanity. The event took place at the university's conference centre and aimed to provide a platform for discussions on the cultural, social, and contemporary relevance of the Ramcharitmanas.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed the audience, emphasising the enduring significance of the Ramcharitmanas. He described it as a guide for navigating life's challenges and highlighted its relevance in modern times. "The teachings of the Ramcharitmanas have spread the wisdom of Bharat across the world," Shekhawat said, encouraging the application of its principles in daily life.
Event Highlights and Sessions
The conference featured an inaugural address, a plenary session, six parallel technical sessions, and a valedictory session. During these sessions, 70 research papers were presented, drawing an impressive audience of 300 attendees. The event provided a comprehensive platform for scholars and experts to engage in meaningful discussions.
Prerna Malhotra, Conference Convener and Joint Director of Hindu Studies, spoke about the mission of the Centre for Hindu Studies. She explained that the centre aims to promote a universal understanding of Hindu dharma. Her remarks underscored the importance of such conferences in fostering a deeper appreciation of Hindu teachings.
Book Launch and Insights
During the event, Pradeep Kumar Singhal, National Convener of Sanskriti Sangyan, launched a book titled "Manas ke Moti." This book explores insights from the Ramcharitmanas on various topics, including management strategies and marital advice. The launch added a significant dimension to the conference by providing practical applications of ancient wisdom.
Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges at the University of Delhi, discussed how the Ramcharitmanas can contribute to achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047. He highlighted its teachings on leadership, communication, and managerial skills. Pani's insights demonstrated how ancient texts could offer valuable lessons for modern development goals.
The conference successfully brought together scholars and experts to discuss the multifaceted relevance of the Ramcharitmanas. By exploring its cultural, social, and contemporary aspects, the event aimed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of this ancient text.
