Alia Bhatt's Deepfake Video Goes Viral Again, Fans Raise Red Flag Over AI Misuse
The recent surge of deepfake videos have became a cause of concern for individuals as well as law enforcement agencies.
Now, a new deepfake video featuring Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has sparked widespread consternation and outrage.

The video, shared on Instagram, shows Bhatt participating in the "get ready with me" (GRWM) trend, where she is seen donning a black kurta and applying makeup. This incident is part of a troubling pattern, as Alia Bhatt has been targeted by deepfake technology multiple times before.
Previously, a deepfake video went viral, blending Bhatt's face with that of actor Wamiqa Gabbi. Another disturbing instance showed a woman with a morphed face of Alia Bhatt making obscene gestures. These deepfakes have raised significant concerns among Instagram users about the misuse of artificial intelligence, reported NDTV.
"AI is getting dangerous day by day," a user said.
"I am getting scared of AI now," a second user said.
"I really hope you have consent for using the AI that uses real human faces," read another comment.
Deepfakes are synthetic media created using AI, utilising advanced algorithms to manipulate visual and audio elements convincingly. This technology has also affected other celebrities such as Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sara Tendulkar, whose deepfakes have also surfaced online.
In response to this alarming trend, the Indian government has instructed social media platforms like Instagram and X to enforce rules prohibiting such content as per the IT Act. The government has imposed strict penalties for creating and distributing deepfakes, including a fine of Rs 1 lakh and up to three years in jail.
PM Modi has also raised red flag over the misuse of deepfake technology. "During the times of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that technology should be used responsibly," he said.
