Expanding Connectivity Between Two Major Ring Roads
The new radial road is part of a broader strategy by the state government to establish seamless connectivity between the ORR and the proposed RRR. By developing a network of such radial corridors, authorities aim to boost accessibility and accelerate growth across the Peripheral Urban Region (PUR), which lies between the two ring roads.
This initiative follows progress on Greenfield Radial Road-1, which is already under construction. That corridor stretches from the ORR at Raviryala exit (point 13) and passes through several locations including Future City, Kongara Kurd, Kongara Kalan, Meer Khanpet, Mucherla, Kurmidda, Kadtal, Mudwin and Amangal before reaching Akuthotapalli, covering around 18 km.
Route Details and Villages Covered
Greenfield Radial Road-2 will extend over 51.4 km, beginning at Kotwalguda on the ORR and ending at Chityal in Pargi mandal, where it will connect with the RRR. The proposed road will have a substantial width of 300 metres, making it a major transport corridor.
The alignment passes through multiple mandals including Shamshabad, Shabad, Kondurg and Pargi, spanning Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts. Villages along the route include Kotwalguda, Shamshabad, Rayannaguda, Malkaram, Ramajipur, Solipet, Hayathabad, Pedda Ved, Damarlapally, Nagar Kunta, Bongiripally, Chukkampeta, Muthur, Dammayal and Tummalapalle.
Officials confirmed that the project will impact six mandals and a total of 26 villages.
Land Acquisition Process Underway
To move the project forward, the government has already issued a notification for land acquisition. Authorities will acquire land across the identified mandals in Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts.
The alignment has received formal approval, and initial works, including the construction of junctions to connect the new corridor with the ORR at Kotwalguda, are expected to begin soon.
Part of a Larger Urban Expansion Plan
The HMDA has outlined plans to develop nine radial roads in total between the ORR and RRR. These corridors are intended to significantly improve road connectivity while linking important state and national highways.
Once completed, the network is expected to reduce travel time, decongest existing routes and support planned urban expansion in Hyderabad's growing outskirts.
