Nagarjuna’s Convention Center Demolished For Encroaching On Hyderabad Lake
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) authorities began demolishing the N Convention Center in Madhapur, owned by actor Nagarjuna, on Saturday. This action follows complaints that the construction of the center involved illegal encroachment upon Tammidi Cheruvu, a nearby water body.
Officials initiated the demolition in response to allegations that the convention center had encroached on approximately three and a half acres of land originally part of the lake. The N Convention Center was reportedly built in the buffer area of Thammidi Kunta Lake at Khanamet.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the center encroached on 1.12 acres within the Full Tank Level (FTL) area and an additional 2 acres within the lake's buffer zone. These encroachments violated several land use and environmental regulations.
A 2014 survey had previously identified that the N Convention Center occupied 1.3 acres within the FTL area and 2 additional acres in the lake's buffer zone. Despite these findings, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the management of the N Convention Center did not fully address the issue, allowing the illegal structures to remain for nearly a decade.
Spanning 10 acres, the N Convention Center has been a popular venue for various events, including weddings and corporate gatherings. Notable events held there include the engagement ceremony of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's daughter, Nymisha, in 2015, and the wedding reception of Tollywood actors Varun Tej and Lavanya.
