IMD Forecast Signals Hotter Days Ahead In Hyderabad
The IMD Hyderabad office has indicated that the familiar dry summer conditions have firmly returned and are likely to strengthen through the week. According to the department, daytime temperatures in Hyderabad may remain just under or around the 40°C mark, but the overall weather pattern suggests a gradual rise in heat intensity.
The department said, "Dry weather is very likely to prevail over Telangana. Maximum temperatures are likely to gradually rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in the next three-days," the forecast said.
This latest outlook has added to concerns in the city, especially as the dry conditions are expected to feel harsher due to the absence of gusty winds, which had offered some relief during the previous week. With no significant wind activity likely in the immediate future, the daytime heat could feel more oppressive for residents commuting or spending time outdoors.
Several Telangana Districts May Touch 44°C
While Hyderabad is expected to remain in the high-30s to around 40°C, the situation is likely to be more severe in multiple Telangana districts. The IMD has forecast that temperatures in several districts may rise to 44°C over the same period.
Among the districts expected to witness the highest temperatures are Adilabad, Jagitial, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Komaram Bheem, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Nizamabad, Wanaparthy, Sangareddy and Rajanna Siricilla, among others.
The weather department has also noted that across many other districts in the state, daytime temperatures are likely to range between 41°C and 44°C as the dry heat strengthens.
Telangana Weatherman Warns Of 'Major Heatwave'
Adding to the concern, well-known weather enthusiast T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman on X, has also issued a strong warning about the upcoming heat conditions. Known among many locals for his closely followed weather updates, he suggested that the coming week could be especially difficult across the state.
On his X handle, he wrote, "Hyderabad will be roasted at 40-42°C heat in the next 7 days continuously."
In another alert-style post, he wrote:
"TORTURE HEATWAVE ALERT ⚠️🔥Dear people of Telangana, get ready for MAJOR HEATWAVE from today Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Gadwal will roast at 42-45°C in next 7days ⚠️⚠️⚠️🔥Hyderabad will..."
As per his forecast, districts such as Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Gadwal may witness temperatures between 42°C and 45°C over the next seven days.
Yellow Alert For Hyderabad, Orange Alert For Hotter Districts
In view of the expected spike in temperatures, IMD Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad city. The alert will remain in effect until April 17, signalling the need for residents to remain cautious as the heat intensifies.
For the districts where temperatures are expected to reach 44°C, the weather department has issued an orange alert for the same period. This indicates a more serious level of heat stress and calls for extra precautions, especially for outdoor workers, the elderly, children and those with health vulnerabilities.
The IMD has also ruled out thundershowers across Telangana until next week, meaning there is little chance of any weather system bringing immediate relief from the rising temperatures.
With the heat expected to remain persistent and dry, residents in Hyderabad and across Telangana may need to plan travel and outdoor activities carefully in the coming days. Those heading out during afternoon hours are likely to face the harshest conditions, particularly as the lack of cloud cover and wind may make temperatures feel even more severe than the actual readings.
