Fact Check: Did Suriya Apologise Pawan Kalyan Over Karthi's Comments On Laddu?

A tweet claiming that Tamil actor Suriya apologized on behalf of his brother Karthi over comments about the ongoing Tirupati laddu controversy has been making waves on social media.

The viral tweet reads, "I am deeply sorry for the comments made by my brother on laddu in the recent audio function and for that I am also going for 3 Days Deeksha for my brother's words @PawanKalyan garu."

However, this claim is entirely false. Suriya has not issued any apology regarding the matter. The tweet in question came from an impersonator posing as the actor. Suriya's official social media account confirms that his last post was about the trailer of his upcoming movie Meiyazhagan, shared on Monday, with no mention of the laddu controversy.

Karthi's Controversy

The laddu issue first gained attention when Karthi, while attending a film event in Hyderabad on September 23, made a light-hearted comment about a meme referencing the Tirupati laddu. Karthi jokingly said, "Ippudu laddu gurinchi maatladakodadu (we should not talk about laddu now), it's a sensitive topic manakoddadi (we don't want to discuss it)."

While the comment was made in a playful context, it quickly drew criticism from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and popular actor Pawan Kalyan. During a media briefing in Vijayawada on September 24, Kalyan expressed his displeasure, stating that film industry figures should either support or avoid discussing sensitive topics like the laddu controversy in public. He warned, "Don't you ever dare to say that."

In response, Karthi took to social media to issue an apology, clarifying that his comment was not intended to disrespect anyone. However, the viral tweet suggesting that Suriya also apologized for Karthi's remarks is untrue.
