Pragya Nagra Breaks Silence On Private Leaked Video Evil Minds Who Misuse It To Create Such AI Content

She wrote, "Still in denial, and still hoping that it's just a bad dream that I will wake up from. Technology was meant to help us and not make our lives miserable. Can just pity the evil minds who misuse it to create such AI content and the people who help spread it!"

The 25-year-old stated that no women should land in such situation. She added, "Trying to stay strong through all of this, and grateful to all the people who are there for me in these moments.I hope and pray that no other woman has to go through such an ordeal, and that all of you stay safe!"

On Friday, the internet was abuzz with reports of Nagra's private intimate videos hittingthe internet throw the backdoors. On social media sites, there were video clips doing rounds which were attributed to her.

However, the authenticity of the clips was under question especially since many actresses have fallen victim to the deepfake videos in recent times.

In the last couple of months, Telugu actress Jyothi Rai, Oviyaa and many other South Indian actresses had landed in such situations. In fact, many on the internet spread private videos claiming that their private videos were secretly captured and leaked on internet.

Nonetheless, they had called those clips fake and lodged formal police complaints.

Last year, the topic of deepfake clips took the centre stage after a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna hit the internet.

The video showcased the popular actor entering an elevator. Abhishek Kumar, a journalist and researcher, highlighted this issue and emphasized the necessity for a legal and regulatory framework to address the escalating Deepfake issue in India. For the unversed, Deepfake technology, it uses advanced artificial intelligence to produce highly realistic yet often deceptive digital content. This technology can manipulate a person's appearance and voice in videos or audio recordings, making it challenging to distinguish between authentic and manipulated content.

In Rashmika Mandanna's video, the original footage featured Zara Patel, a British-Indian influencer, but her face was digitally replaced with that of the actor using Deepfake technology.

Responding to the video, the actress had said, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.

Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can't imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."
