'Jigarthanda 2' Review: What's Good, What's Bad; Find It Out From Viewers' Words

'Jigarthanda DoubleX' is a period-action comedy film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It is a spiritual successor to the 2014 film 'Jigarthanda' and stars Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in the lead roles.

Shine Tom Chacko, Nimisha Sajayan, Naveen Chandra, Sathyan, Ilavarasu and others are in the cast. The movie has Santhosh Narayanan's music, S Thirunavukkarasu's cinematography and Shafique Mohamed Ali's editing.

'Jigarthanda DoubleX' Story:

In the year 1975, Pandiyan, a notorious figure in Madurai, harbours a dream of becoming the first dark-skinned actor in Tamil cinema. To realize this aspiration, he enlists the services of Ray Dasan, a former assistant director under Satyajit Ray eager to make his directorial debut. Their collaborative project is a Tamil Nadu-based western film titled 'Pandyaa,' inspired by the style of Clint Eastwood.

However, as the filming advances, Pandiyan finds himself pursued by adversaries, leading to a series of complications that disrupt the shoot. What follows next forms the crux of the story.

'Jigarthanda' Review

A compelling movie that not only entertains but also delves into serious political themes. Karthik Subbaraj has placed a strong emphasis on emotions this time, and the result is outstanding.

The film's heart and soul truly come alive in the last 40 minutes or so. Lawrence master delivers a brilliant performance, as does SJ Suryah. Nimisha Sajayan and Shine Tom Chako play pivotal roles and both of them excel, with Nimisha in particular doing full justice to her character.

Naveen Chandra leaves a lasting impression. Santhosh Narayanan and Thiru contribute terrific work. The second installment of 'Jigarthanda' emerges as a winner in every aspect.
