Chennai Airport Receives Bomb Threat E-Mail
Chennai Airport on Monday early morning received bomb threat e-mails, claiming that it would explode as the officials were harassing the passengers.
The message claimed that the bombs had been placed at five locations. The first email was received around 1.30 am claiming that the bombs would be blasted in a week.

According to a report in DT Next, the sender stated that many innocent people are being harassed by officials under the pretence of smuggling checks. The message then threatened: "We have decided to plant explosives at the Chennai airport."
The same email was forwarded again at 9 am. Airport sources claimed that the fake email ID was created using the name of a senior state police official.
Soon after, the Chennai airport director convened an emergency security meeting. The bomb squad conducted thorough checks throughout the airport, and security measures were intensified.
Additionally, the airport police and CISF were alerted on Sunday evening.
Although the police confirmed it was a hoax bomb threat, security has been heightened as the email mentioned that a blast could occur anytime within the week.
The police have registered a case and are working to identify those responsible for the hoax threat.
Earlier in February, 13 schools in Chennai had received bomb threat emails. Later it turned out to be a hoax.
In March, two private schools in Chennai and one each in Coimbatore and Kancheepuram districts had received similar threats.
In the last five months, many schools across the country received bomb threats.
In an unprecedented bomb scare, more than 130 schools in Delhi-NCR received identical threatening emails on May 1, claiming explosives had been planted on their premises. This prompted extensive evacuations and searches, with anxious parents rushing to retrieve their children. However, authorities found "nothing objectionable" during the searches and later declared it a hoax.
