A shocking case of brutality has come to light in Karnataka, where Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his gang members have been arrested for the brutal murder of Renuka Swamy - the 33-year-old man who allegedly sent obscene text messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda. The investigation has now revealed that Darshan and his associates kidnapped Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga and took him to a shed in Pattanagere, where they allegedly subjected victim to electric shocks, before being assaulted by wooden planks, kicked and punched.

Police custody of actor Darshan, 12 others extended by 5 more days

Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda appeared visibly distressed as they exited the Bengaluru courtroom, where their police custody was extended by five days. They, along with 11 others, are accused in the murder case of Renuka Swamy.

Darshan's fans allegedly assault news reporter at court premises

Darshan fans, gathered at the court premises to see the Sandalwood star, reportedly assaulted news reporter Rakshit Gowda, leaving him bleeding and injured. Gowda, who was there to report on the case, was standing with a mobile phone when he was confronted by four fans of Darshan.

Upon learning that Gowda was from the media, the fans, apparently unhappy with media coverage, verbally abused and assaulted him. Gowda has filed a complaint, and a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) has been registered regarding the incident.

Instrument used for electric shocks for Renuka Swamy

The police investigation has uncovered the horrific details of the attack, which included Darshan's gang members kicking and beating Renuka Swamy mercilessly. According to media reports, they also used an electrical test instrument, known as a "megger", to administer electric shocks, which may have been destroyed to eliminate evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have seized several pieces of evidence, including clothes worn by Darshan on the night of the murder. The accused allegedly discussed the incident with co-conspirators and even paid Rs 30 lakh to dispose of Renuka Swamy's body.

Renuka Swamy died of shock reveals post mortem

The post-mortem report revealed 15 serious injuries on Renuka's body, including burns suggesting electric shocks. According to the post-mortem report, Renuka Swamy died due to shock and hemorrhage after sustaining 15 wounds on different parts of his body. The police claim that Darshan's associates, abducted and subjected Renuka Swamy to torture, ultimately resulting in his tragic demise.

Special Public Prosecutor Appointed

To ensure a fair trial, a senior High Court lawyer has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to argue the case against Darshan and his co-accused. The SPP will conduct the case in district session courts until further notice.
