Bengaluru Weather: Evening Sky Dazzles with Rainbow After Sunset Showers

After a day of shifting weather-marked by cloudy skies and spells of sunshine-Bengaluru witnessed light rain on Thursday at dusk, followed by a rare visual treat: a rainbow arching across the skyline, bringing smiles to many residents.

The weather stayed overcast for most of the day, with brief sunny intervals across city. As evening approached, clouds thickened, and several parts of the city including Marathalli, Banaswadi, Varthur and BTM received brief showers. While short-lived, the rain offered some relief from the humid conditions.

But the biggest highlight came early this morning, when Bengaluru's skyline was graced by a mesmerising rainbow, seen clearly across various parts of the city. The rainbow appeared after heavy rain spells on Monday evening, which had disrupted daily life, leading to waterlogging, traffic snarls, and inundated roads.

Several users took to social media platform 'X' to share visuals of the stunning rainbow.

"Spotted this beautiful rainbow this morning in north Bengaluru," one user wrote, alongside a photo of the aesthetic sky filled with vivid colours.

What's Next for Bengaluru's Weather?

Despite the early arrival of the monsoon, Bengaluru weather continues to disappoint, with a severe rainfall deficit being recorded in both Urban and Rural districts. With a shortfall of around 60% or more, the city is heading into mid-July with dry skies and no signs of improvement.

According to weather experts, the next 7-10 days will remain largely dry, with no significant rainfall expected across the region. Even isolated showers are unlikely in and around the city, worsening the already strained water situation.

As of now, there is no active weather system over Peninsular India that could enhance rainfall. Neither the West nor East coast is showing any activity that would support moisture inflow into Karnataka. The result: extended monsoon lull across southern parts of the state.

Over the next seven days, weather models indicate little to no rainfall. While light sprinkles may occur beyond mid-July, these will likely be scattered and insufficient to make up for the deficit.
