Bengaluru Property Tax Rebate Extended Till May 31, 5% Discount on Full Payment

The Bengaluru property tax rebate has been extended till May 31, with a 5% discount available on full payment for the 2026-27 financial year. Taxpayers who pay the entire Bengaluru property tax amount in one instalment within this period will be eligible for the benefit.

The extension applies to areas under the Greater Bengaluru Authority and has been given after many taxpayers were unable to complete Bengaluru property tax payments within the earlier deadline due to limited services during census work.

Bengaluru Property Tax Rebate May 31 Deadline Details

The 5% discount under the Bengaluru property tax rebate will be applicable only if the full amount is paid in one go. Payments made in instalments will not be eligible. The benefit applies to residential, commercial and other property owners.

Why Bengaluru Property Tax Rebate Was Extended

Officials said staff deployment for census duties affected services at tax offices, making it difficult for many taxpayers to complete Bengaluru property tax payments on time. Following requests from public representatives and organisations, the deadline has now been extended.

Mysuru Shows Strong Response to Similar Property Tax Rebate

A similar 5% rebate offered in Mysuru during April saw strong response. Between April 1 and April 28, the Mysuru City Corporation collected over Rs 111 crore in property tax, with more than 81,000 property owners making payments.

Officials had opened additional counters across zonal offices to manage the rush and ensure smoother processing. The higher collections were attributed to the rebate incentive and improved access to services.

With the deadline now extended in Bengaluru, authorities expect an increase in tax payments in the coming weeks as more property owners take advantage of the 5% rebate.
