April 2016 vs April 2015: Bengaluru's rain fate couldn't have been more contradictory

Bengaluru, April 30: The month of April of the year 2016 comes to an end but there is no sight of relief for the citizens of the IT hub from thr scordching heat. The city has been witnessing an unusually high temperature with April 24 saw the mercury shooting up to over 39 degrees Celsius, the highest in 85 years. The temperature has otherwise hovered between 35 and 36 degrees and with no major thundershower, there has been hardly any relief.

Just contrast the story of this April with that of the last year. In 2015, the city experienced rainfall of varying intensity. On most days, the city received heavy rain in the later part of the day after a sunny beginning on most days. Though April is usually a dry month for Bengaluru with a monthly average rainfall of 40 mm, last year the city saw more than 200 mm of rainfall in this month last year.
