Rain in Delhi
Bangalore, Nov 1: India's IT hub Bangalore is literally freezing. Effect of Cyclone Nilam was felt in Bangalore too. The city is experiencing rainfall since Wednesday, Oct 31 and temperature dipped to 18.3 degree Celsius. Thursday was no different. The IT city experienced constant rainfall and temperature for the day is 19 degree Celsius, says a weatherman.

"For the next two days, Bangalore will witness similar weather and there will be intermittent showers. Maximum temperature may not cross 21 degrees Celsius," said the duty officer at Met department.

"Cyclonic storm Nilam crossed the Tamil Nadu coast near Mahabalipuram and is expected to move towards the north-west into a deep depression. Under its influence, rain or thundershowers are expected in most places of south-interior Karnataka and a few coastal and north-interior places," said department director B Putanna.

Incessant rain all through Wednesday intensified later in the night, uprooting 12 trees, inundating several roads and bringing traffic to a crawl in most parts of the city. In all, the city recorded 37.2mm of rainfall, while at the airport it was 40.8mm.

On Wednesday, winds blew at a speed of 10 km/hr, bringing minimum temperature down to 18.3 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature was 19.9 degrees Celsius, eight degrees below normal.

As Karnataka is celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava (birth of the Karnataka state) on Thursday, bad weather conditions effected revellers to enjoy the day to the fullest. Schools, colleges and offices observed holiday as part of Kannada Rajyotsava. But many people remained inside their homes to avoid rains and cold climatic conditions.
